The three positions a Hotelminder module can be in
Every module in the current shortlist sits in one of three positions relative to what SiteMinder ships natively — and the position matters more than the price:
- Extends — SiteMinder does not ship this category at all, so the module fills a gap the platform has left open (EU Fiscal Composer for country-correct invoicing, GuestJoy Concierge Expander for WhatsApp).
- Complements — SiteMinder ships a working base, and the module adds a specialised layer on top (Rate Reasoner sits on the SiteMinder Channel Manager pricing engine; Review Response Studio sits on SiteMinder Reviews).
- Overlaps — both products can do the job, at different depths and price points (Distribution Intelligence Layer next to SiteMinder Insights).
If a module is in the overlaps column and your team is already comfortable with the native SiteMinder version, the advisory answer is usually: stay native. We would rather send you home from a scoping call than sell a module you do not need.
Category-by-category read
| Category | Native SiteMinder | Hotelminder shortlist | Position & take |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rate management surface | SiteMinder Channel Manager | Rate Reasoner for SiteMinder Channel Manager | Complements. The Channel Manager stays the source of truth; Rate Reasoner queues explainable price moves into it. |
| Booking form on the hotel site | SiteMinder Channel Manager Engine | Direct Deal Widget: SiteMinder-native booking form | Complements. Run the two in parallel for a two-week A/B — the native engine is strong; the widget wins on bundle size and boutique aesthetic. |
| Distribution reporting | SiteMinder Insights | Distribution Intelligence Layer for SiteMinder Insights | Overlaps. If your team already reads Insights fluently, stay native. If you want cost-of-distribution and net-ADR at four horizons, the Layer is the shortcut. |
| Guest messaging | SiteMinder GuestJoy (email-first) | GuestJoy Concierge Expander for SiteMinder | Extends. SiteMinder does not ship WhatsApp Business Cloud natively; the Expander adds it and mirrors threads back into GuestJoy profiles. |
| Guest CRM & repeat memory | SiteMinder GuestJoy profiles | Guest Memory Layer for SiteMinder GuestJoy | Complements. Profiles stay in GuestJoy; the Layer adds pillow, coffee, allergy, birthday and quiet-loyalty memory that boutique concierges actually recall. |
| Country-correct invoicing | Basic reservation invoice | EU Fiscal Composer for SiteMinder Reservations | Extends. French facture with mentions obligatoires, Italian fattura elettronica through SdI, German Rechnung with Beherbergungssteuer, Spanish, Portuguese and Dutch layouts — SiteMinder will not build these. |
| Housekeeping app | Room status inside the SiteMinder PMS grid | Housekeeping Mobile Kit for SiteMinder PMS | Extends. Native SiteMinder handles status; the Kit adds an offline-capable iOS and Android app scaled for teams of two to six. |
| Reviews response | SiteMinder Reviews inbox | Review Response Studio for SiteMinder Reviews | Complements. The inbox and alerts stay in SiteMinder; the Studio drafts replies in the property's voice and eight guest languages. |
| Google Hotels surface | SiteMinder Metasearch connector | Google Hotels Boost for SiteMinder Metasearch | Overlaps. If you already run Metasearch through the native connector, stay native. If you want Free Booking Links plus paid Hotel Ads with a boutique-sized budget floor, use the Boost. |
| Multi-property rate strategy | SiteMinder Multi-Property | Portfolio Sync Fabric for SiteMinder Multi-Property | Complements. Multi-Property still owns the group hierarchy; the Fabric replicates a master rate strategy with per-property overrides and audit history. |
Where the native SiteMinder version is the better answer
For a single-property boutique between ten and forty rooms whose General Manager already knows the SiteMinder Insights tabs, Distribution Intelligence Layer is optional — an honest advisor will point that out. If your Metasearch spend is under 400 EUR/month and the property is happy at that level, Google Hotels Boost is over-engineered. And if your channel-manager configuration has not changed in two years and no one on the team complains about it, none of the distribution boosters are urgent.
The shortlist entry price is 29 EUR/month for a reason: below that number, the operational value of any tool is dominated by the hidden hour a week it costs the front desk. Native SiteMinder is often free of that hidden hour because your team already knows where every button is.
Where the shortlist closes real gaps
Three modules in the shortlist do work that SiteMinder does not ship at all, and where the answer is almost always the module rather than the native version:
- EU Fiscal Composer — Italian fattura elettronica through the Sistema di Interscambio, French mentions obligatoires, Spanish factura with the accommodation VAT split. These are country-specific edges SiteMinder will not build.
- GuestJoy Concierge Expander — WhatsApp Business Cloud on the official Meta channel with 62 hand-authored templates. Native GuestJoy is email-first; the Expander is the WhatsApp path.
- Housekeeping Mobile Kit — the native SiteMinder PMS grid handles room status, but a housekeeping team of three on an iPhone in a stone-walled Amsterdam corridor needs the offline-capable app.
How the shortlist is priced against native SiteMinder
Every module in the shortlist sits on top of the customer's existing SiteMinder subscription — Hotelminder does not resell SiteMinder itself. Prices run from 29 EUR/month (Direct Deal Widget, Housekeeping Mobile Kit) to 99 EUR/month (Portfolio Sync Fabric), with the first month included as part of the onboarding pilot pack. A typical three-module boutique stack lands between 100 and 200 EUR per property per month — a fraction of what the underlying SiteMinder subscription costs.
How to decide, in two questions
The two-question test the advisory team uses on scoping calls:
- Is the job something SiteMinder ships natively — and how well does your team already run the native version? If the native version is strong for you, stay native.
- Is the job country-specific for an EU market (invoicing, tax), or off the SiteMinder product roadmap (WhatsApp, offline housekeeping)? If yes, the shortlist is the shorter path.
Everything else is a real trade-off, and worth thirty minutes with an advisor before any card touches any checkout.
